Chapter 5 : Karma Sanyasa yoga, The Yoga of Action and Knowledge

arjuna-uvācha:
sannyāsaṁ karmaṇāṁ kṛṣhṇa
punar-yogaṁ cha śhaṁsasi
yac-chreya etayor-ekaṁ
tan-me brūhi su-niśhchitam (5.1)

śrī-bhagavān-uvācha:
sannyāsaḥ karma-yogaśhcha
niḥśhreyasa-karāv-ubhau
tayos-tu karma-sannyāsāt
karma-yogo viśhiṣhyate (5.2)

jñeyaḥ sa nitya-sannyāsī
yo na dveṣhṭi na kāṅkṣhati
nirdvandvo hi mahā-bāho
sukhaṁ bandhāt-pramuchyate (5.3)

sāṅkhya-yogau pṛthag-bālāḥ
pravadanti na paṇḍitāḥ
ekam-apy-āsthitaḥ samyag-
ubhayor-vindate phalam (5.4)

yat-sāṅkhyaiḥ prāpyate sthānaṁ
tad-yogair-api gamyate
ekaṁ sāṅkhyaṁ cha yogaṁ cha
yaḥ paśhyati sa paśhyati (5.5)

sannyāsas-tu mahā-bāho
duḥkham-āptum-ayogataḥ
yoga-yukto munir-brahma
na chireṇādhigacchati (5.6)

yoga-yukto viśuddhātmā
vijitātmā jitendriyaḥ
sarva-bhūtātma-bhūtātmā
kurvann-api na lipyate (5.7)

naiva kiñchit-karomīti
yukto manyeta tattva-vit
paśhyañ-śhṛṇvan-spṛśhañ-jighrann
aśhrnan-gacchan-svapañ-śhvasan (5.8)

pralapan visṛjan gṛhṇann
unmiṣhan nimiṣhann-api
indriyāṇīndriyārtheṣhu
vartanta iti dhārayan (5.9)

brahmaṇy-ādhāya karmāṇi
saṅgaṁ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ
lipyate na sa pāpena
padma-patram-ivāmbhasā (5.10)

kāyena manasā buddhyā
kevalair-indriyair-api
yoginaḥ karma kurvanti
saṅgaṁ tyaktvātma-śhuddhaye (5.11)

yuktaḥ karma-phalaṁ tyaktvā
śhāntim-āpnoti naiṣhṭikīm
ayuktaḥ kāma-kāreṇa
phale sakto nibadhyate (5.12)

sarva-karmāṇi manasā
sannyasyāste sukhaṁ vaśhī
nava-dvāre pure dehī
naiva kurvan-na kārayan (5.13)

na kartṛtvaṁ na karmāṇi
lokasya sṛjati prabhuḥ
na karma-phala-saṁyogaṁ
svabhāvas tu pravartate (5.14)

nādatte kasyachit-pāpaṁ
na chaiva sukṛtaṁ vibhuḥ
ajñānenāvṛtaṁ jñānaṁ
tena muhyanti jantavaḥ (5.15)

jñānena tu tad-ajñānaṁ
yeṣhāṁ nāśhitam-ātmanaḥ
teṣhām-āditya-vaj-jñānaṁ
prakāśhayati tat-param (5.16)

tad-buddhayas tad-ātmānas
tan-niṣṭhās-tat-parāyaṇāḥ
gacchanty-apunar-āvṛttiṁ
jñāna-nirdhūta-kalmaṣhāḥ (5.17)

vidyā-vinaya-sampanne
brāhmaṇe gavi hastini
śhuni chaiva śhva-pāke cha
paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśhinaḥ (5.18)

ihaiva tair-jitaḥ sargo
yeṣhāṁ sāmye sthitaṁ manaḥ
nirdoṣhaṁ hi samaṁ brahma
tasmād-brahmaṇi te sthitāḥ (5.19)

na prahṛṣhyet-priyaṁ prāpya
nodvijet-prāpya chāpriyam
sthira-buddhir-asammūḍo
brahma-vid brahmaṇi sthitaḥ (5.20)

bāhya-sparśheṣhv-asaktātmā
vindaty-ātmani yat-sukham
sa brahma-yoga-yuktātmā
sukham-akṣhayam-aśhnute (5.21)

ye hi saṁsparśha-jā bhogā
duḥkha-yonaya eva te
ādy-antavantaḥ kaunteya
na teṣhu ramate budhaḥ (5.22)

śhaknotīhaiva yaḥ soḍuṁ
prāk-śharīra-vimokṣhaṇāt
kāma-krodhodbhavaṁ vegaṁ
sa yuktaḥ sa sukhī naraḥ (5.23)

yo-ntaḥ-sukho-ntar-ārāmas-
tathāntar-jyotir-eva yaḥ
sa yogī brahma-nirvāṇaṁ
brahma-bhūto-dhigacchati (5.24)

labhante brahma-nirvāṇam-
ṛṣhayaḥ kṣhīṇa-kalmaṣhāḥ
chinna-dvaidhā yatātmānaḥ
sarva-bhūta-hite ratāḥ (5.25)

kāma-krodha-viyuktānāṁ
yatīnāṁ yata-chetasām
abhito brahma-nirvāṇaṁ
vartate viditātmanām (5.26)

sparśhān kṛtvā bahir-bāhyāṁś
chakṣhuśh-chaivāntare bhruvoḥ
prāṇāpānau samau kṛtvā
nāsābhyantara-chāriṇau (5.27)

yatendriya-mano-buddhir
munir-mokṣha-parāyaṇaḥ
vigatecchā-bhaya-krodho
yaḥ sadā mukta eva saḥ (5.28)

bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ
sarva-loka-maheśhvaram
suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ
jñātvā māṁ śhāntim-ṛcchati (5.29)
