Meaning :
Now, O Lord of Earth, seeing your sons against him and archers ready to be hurled, Arjuna, son of Pandu, sitting on his chariot with flag of Hanuman, took up his bow & then addressed following words to Krishna.
Comment :
This shloka is glorifying our Hero, Arjuna & also shows the importance of flag, during a war.
By the rules of war, it is considered that only the like warriors must fight against each other. A soldier and charioteer shall not fight. Each warrior shall have his own flag in order to identify them. This helps to determine who should fight with who. Here, Arjuna's chariot had the flag of Hanuman, a disciple of Ram as per Ramayana.
This indirectly shows the victory of Pandava's as during Ramayana war between Ram and Ravana, Hanuman fought for Sri Ram & they won. Here also, as Arjuna has the Kapi-dhvajah, meaning, flag of Hanuman, his victory is inevitable.
Arjuna, being ready for the war, asks Krishna to do something, which we will see in the coming Shloka.
